Computing

Computing at Furzeham Primary and Nursery

The subject is taught to ensure that all pupils by the end of year 6:

  • can understand and apply the fundamental principles of computer science, including logic, algorithms, data representation, and communication
  • can analyse problems in computational terms, and have repeated practical experience of writing computer programs in order to solve such problems
  • can evaluate and apply information technology, including new or unfamiliar technologies, analytically to solve problems
  • are responsible, competent, confident and creative users of information and communication technology

Chromebook and iPad provision

Chromebooks and iPads are embraced as a transformational tool for learning at Furzeham. All pupils benefit from the use of a device as a means of increasing engagement and promoting positive attitudes towards the safe use of technology in a creative manner.

We have over 70 iPads and iPad Minis to use across all key stages. Each KS1 and Early Years class has iPads to use. We also have over 200 Chromebooks in use so every child in KS2 have a device to use within school for blended learning and other curriculum activities.
