Our Foundation Stage which offers provision for children from 3 years to statutory school age (the term after a child’s fifth birthday). Within the Foundation Stage there are two large classrooms offering the most appropriate experiences for children just embarking on their education with indoor and outdoor communal play areas.
We can admit up to 26 children for each session into nursery. The Foundation Stage operates as a cohesive unit, with the teaching staff carefully observing and planning for the needs of individual children. The children all have a personalised learning diary which is accessible to and contributed to, by parents and the activities that the children enjoy are jointly planned and carried out by the whole team, who share resources.
All children are treated equally within our school and although the physical structure of the school sometimes presents difficulties, we make every effort to admit all children who wish to join us, including those with physical disabilities. We have lifts and a physiotherapy room. We suggest that parents of children with specific needs make an early appointment with the Headteacher and Special Needs & Disability Co-ordinator (SENDCO) so that we can plan to accommodate any specific needs. Please also refer to information about the ‘Local Offer’ which is on the Torbay council web-site and sets out what provision we are able to make.
A number of our children go on to the grammar school and we run an 11 + club to support Year 5. We are very happy to meet with parents to discuss choice of secondary school and can advise on the 11 + process. You can apply for the 11+ directly with the grammar school (please see their website for details).
