PSHE at Furzeham Primary and Nursery school

How the subject is taught?

PSHE is taught across the school in the Foundation classes, KS1 and KS2. All classes timetable 45 minutes a week. The teaching of sex, drug and some health education is accounted for within science and other discreet topics (such as Sex Education).

Lessons include time for:

Individual reflection on the subject in hand; small group decisions and decision-making, the sharing of ideas by the whole class, opportunities for reporting back, (School council etc.) planning for implementing what has been learned/decided, where appropriate. We recognise the necessity for establishing ground rules for dealing with sensitive issues and these will be either negotiated with the group or stipulated by the teacher when this is necessary
